SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A father and son in Texas have been charged in the killings of an 18-year-old pregnant woman who disappeared before Christmas and her boyfriend, who authorities say were fatally shot in the head before their bodies were moved and discovered days later in a car. The arrests Wednesday night came more than a week after the bodies of Savanah Nicole Soto, 18, and Matthew Guerra, 22, were found in the parking lot of a San Antonio apartment complex, a crime scene that the city’s police chief originally described as “very, very perplexing.”San Antonio police Sgt. Washington Moscoso told reporters their deaths appeared to be the result of a drug deal but did not elaborate. Soto’s family has said she was overdue to deliver her baby and had been scheduled to have an induced labor when she went missing the weekend before Christmas. Moscoso said investigators now believe the couple were killed on Dec. 21, meaning they had been dead for several days before police found th...

PARIS (AP) — Kylian Mbappé gave Paris Saint-Germain a glimmer of hope he might stay by insisting he has not yet decided on his future.Mbappé’s contract runs out in June, and last year he caused a stir by refusing to sign a 12-month contract extension, meaning he can leave on a free transfer at the end of this season. Manchester United returns on-loan Reguilon to Tottenham

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Manchester United ended its loan deal for Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon on Thursday. The Spanish left back moved to Old Trafford in August on a season-long loan. But United has exercised a break clause in the contract and Reguilon will return to Spurs. “With fewer games in the second half of the season and injured players returning, there will be less opportunity for Sergio to play,” United said. “It was decided it was in the best interests of all parties for Reguilon to return to Spurs.” The 27-year-old Reguilon was signed to cover injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia at the start of the season. He made 12 appearances in all competitions.Shaw has since returned and Malacia is close to recovery. United has been eliminated from the Champions League and the English League Cup. That means manager Erik ten Hag is unlikely to face fixture congestion in the second half of the season and extra pressures on his squad.___AP soccer: https://apnews.com...

Broncos' playoff drought now at 8 years, but they have a shot at first winning season since '16

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Although the Broncos didn't end their playoff drought in Sean Payton's first season in Denver, they do have a chance at snapping two other unseemly skids Sunday in Las Vegas.A win by the Broncos (8-8) in the season finale would snap a streak of seven straight losses to the Raiders (7-9) which in some ways is more disconcerting to them than the 16-game losing streak to the Chiefs that Denver vanquished with a resounding 24-9 win over Kansas City in Week 6.“I don’t even know that I was aware that we had lost that many games to Las Vegas/Oakland," Payton said. “I think what would be important for us is to get to our ninth win.”A ninth victory would give the Broncos their first winning season since 2016, the year after they rode Von Miller's prime-of-his-career brilliance and Peyton Manning to a win in Super Bowl 50. Rishi Sunak appears to rule out spring UK election

LONDON — Rishi Sunak said his “working assumption” is that he won’t call a U.K. general election until the second half of 2024.In his clearest hint yet at timing for the poll, the British Prime Minister told ITV: “My working assumption is we’ll have a general election in the second half of this year.”Sunak, whose party is trailing in the polls, must call an election by 2025 under U.K. rules. But within those limits, the timing is in his gift. His comments come amid pressure from the opposition parties to call an election in the spring. Speculation has long swirled in Westminster about the timing of the vote. Chancellor Jeremy Hunt announced recently that the spring budget will take place earlier than usual on March 6. Cuts to the national insurance tax are also being rolled out this month in a move seen as a pre-election gambit. Local elections are due to take place in May.
