Crews sweep large encampment as more migrant buses arrive DENVER (KDVR) — Crews began to clear a migrant camp on Wednesday morning. The large camp is at Zuni Street and Speer Boulevard in the Jefferson Park neighborhood where hundreds of migrants have been living. On Tuesday, some of these migrants went to the city council to voice concerns about the sweep, but they mainly wanted the council to know that they’re ready to work and give back to the Denver community.The city said it will connect those living in the camp with housing and is working to open two more shelters. The city also said it has already received more than 300 rental applications, and nearly 100 people have either moved in or are preparing to move into housing. (KDVR) — An overnight fire in Adams County was allegedly started by a burglar, said the Adams County Sheriff's Office.Adams County Fire tweeted about the blaze just before 3 a.m. It happened at a single-family home east of Federal Boulevard in the 2600 block of 80th Avenue.According to the sheriff's office, deputies were initially called to the home for a burglary. The suspect entered the home and started the fire, according to deputies. Second person dies after house fire near Fort Collins Those living inside the home were able to get out before the fire started. USCG repatriates 56 migrants after interdictions off Florida Keys U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) officials repatriated 56 migrants to Cuba, Tuesday, following multiple interdictions off the Florida Keys.   Fifty-six Cubans trying to enter the U.S. illegally were onboard a vessel. They received food, water, shelter and basic medical attention before being repatriated back to Cuba, Tuesday.USCG made multiple interceptions between December 26 and 29. “As we enter the new year, the Coast Guard and our Homeland Security Task Force-Southeast partners remain committed to patrolling the Florida Straits, Windward and Mona Passages to prevent and deter unlawful entry into the U.S. by sea,” said USCG Lt. Cmdr. John W. Beal in a press release. Coast Guard crews repatriated 235 migrants to Cuba in fiscal year 2024, which began on Oct. 1, 2023.“Migrants attempting to circumvent lawful pathways to enter the United States by sea will be rescued and repatriated to their country of origin or departure.
