TORONTO — Canada’s main stock index gained almost 150 points, led by strength in the energy sector, while U.S. stock markets also rose. The S&P/TSX composite index was up 149.78 points at 20,376.57.Markets in Canada breathed a “sigh of relief” Tuesday after the latest inflation report, said Craig Fehr, investment strategist at Edward Jones. Inflation in June slowed to 2.8 per cent, down from 3.4 per cent in May, said Statistics Canada. “It’s generally consistent with what we saw last week in the U.S., and I would say broadly consistent with the trends that we’ve been seeing in consumer prices for some time now,” said Fehr. However, the fall in headline inflation was helped by the fact that energy costs are a lot lower than they were a year ago and core inflation measures aren’t quite as rosy as the headline suggests, said Fehr.“Core inflation is still sufficiently elevated to keep the Bank of Canada on guard,” he said, but it isn’t so high as to warrant a “new, more aggress...Toddler dead after falling from high rise balcony on South Side

(NewsNation) — Fast food chain Taco John's has been home to Taco Tuesday for 40 years, but now the company is abandoning its claim to the famous phrase. The company is also using the move to draw attention to a nonprofit organization that supports restaurant workers.Since May, Taco John's has been involved in a legal battle with rival chain Taco Bell, who challenged the company's registration of the "Taco Tuesday" saying, which Taco John's has held since 1989 (in every state except New Jersey). Taco Bell also enlisted the help of basketball star LeBron James, who previously tried to trademark "Taco Tuesday" himself."We've always prided ourselves on being the home of Taco Tuesday, but paying millions of dollars to lawyers to defend our mark just doesn't feel like the right thing to do," Jim Creel, the CEO of Taco John's, said. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Tuesday said he hopes former President Trump doesn't get charged in the Justice Department's investigation into Trump's efforts to stay in office after losing the 2020 presidential election. “I don’t think it serves us good to have a presidential election focused on what happened four years ago in January," DeSantis told CNN's Jake Tapper in his first sitdown interview with a major non-conservative news network this campaign cycle. "I don’t wanna look back,” he continued. “I do not wanna see him — I hope he doesn’t get charged. I don’t think it’ll be good for the country. But at the same time I’ve gotta focus on looking forward, and that’s what we’re gonna do.”DeSantis's comments come hours after Trump said he received a "target letter" on Sunday evening from special counsel Jack Smith, who's leading the federal probe into the events of Jan. 6, 2021. “Deranged Jack Smith, the prosecutor with Joe Biden’s DOJ, sent a letter (again it was...Officials responding to wildfire near Buda subdivision
